COMEDY CLASS WITH KATHY MCSTEEN

CLASS DESCRIPTION
You are funny! This 6-week beginner course leads to a class showcase where students perform a 3- to 5-minute original stand-up comedy routine on the LBP stage before a supportive live audience.

The class is comprised of discussions, videos, guest speakers, small group collaboration, practice, and independent study. We’ll cover comedy writing conventions and structures, developing material and performing styles, expanding students’ skill sets and performance opportunities. Most importantly, you’ll have fun, make new friends and possibly develop an addictive but legal habit. An optional group field trip not included in the class fee may be offered.

KATHY MCSTEEN – BIO
Instructor Kathy McSteen performs stand-up and produces comedy shows in theatres, clubs, gated communities, RV parks, churches, private parties, bars, nail salons, and at medical appointments. She scored a finalist spot in Visani’s stand-up contest during her first year of comedy and wants to help you do the same by sharing proven methods, the freedom to experiment, and tools to rock your first open mic, hosting or paid guest spot.

Kathy has a B.A. in English/Education, an M.S. in Educational Psychology, and a post-graduate certificate in Instructional Design.

ACTING TECHNIQUE WITH LINDA RAMZELL

CLASS DESCRIPTION
This class is for actors of all levels who wish to exercise and explore the acting craft. Linda will engage students in proven exercises designed to free oneself for onstage activity. Relaxation, improv games, and listening and responding exercises will help students live fully in the moment and connect to the reality created through imaginary circumstances. Linda invites you to grow self-confidence and strength when taking on a role by promoting a joyful exploration of all you have to offer as a unique individual!

LINDA RAMZELL – BIO
In addition to film and television, Linda Ramzell has performed in over 300 productions in NYC and the greater NY area. She has appeared locally at Lemon Bay Playhouse, Venice Theatre and Cultural Park Theatre in Cape Coral. Favorite roles include Elvira in Blithe Spirit, Belise in The Learned Ladies, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth and Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Before joining AEA, SAG and AFTRA, Linda’s theatre training began at Adelphi University and later moved to Hunter College. Additional studies include classes at NYU, the Actors Studio, and Sanford Meisner’s acting technique. She is excited to share her skills and experience with both seasoned and novice actors at Lemon Bay Playhouse.
