LEMONDROPS SUMMER THEATRE CAMP – 2019

For the seventh year in a row, Lemon Bay Playhouse will host The Lemondrops Summer Theatre Camp. The three-week camp will be led by Cheryl Hastings, Lemon Bay Playhouse’s own playwright and volunteer extraordinaire. The camp will include developing acting skills through team building exercises, theatre games, improvisations, arts and crafts, and rehearsals. All campers will have a role in the play, “What Lurks Below,” written by Cheryl. The play will take you to the dank and darkness of the underground where you will experience its beauty and meet marvelous creatures that live there.

The camp will run from 9:00 am to noon, Monday through Friday, July 8 – July 26, ending with two evening shows, performed by the students, on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 at 7:00 pm. The cost for the three-week camp is $210.00 per camper. The camp is limited to 21 students ages 8-14.  If a child has “aged-out” and has been part of the camp in the past, they are welcome to enroll. Openings fill quickly. Early registration is encouraged. A $40.00 deposit is required. The application and deposit are due June 15. SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

We offer scholarships, funded through generous contributions from individuals and businesses, to children whose family can demonstrate need based on income and special circumstances. If seeking a scholarship, please attached the Scholarship Application Form to the completed Registration Form. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis – please apply early. All forms must be submitted by Saturday, June 15, 2019.

Classes will consist of many acting activities and rehearsals for a 45-minute play, “What Lurks Below” written by Cheryl Hastings.

Class size and student age:

21 students age 8 to 14 years of age. If a child is over 14 years of age and they attended one of our previous camps he or she will be accepted into this year’s camp.

Synopsis of the show “What Lurks Below”

The story is about three kids who fall into a sink hole and experience the beauty of the dank and darkness of the underground with the marvelous creatures who live in the world below our feet. Will they ever return to the above ground?  The only way you will know is if you are part of this play.
